This blog is a consistently updated visual and descriptive version of Camp Leo's Art Classes. If you're camper is or has been a Panther, Tiger, or Jaguar, then you will find their artwork throughout this site!

In addition to a daily record the Camp Leo Arts Blog includes the lessons behind each activity, fun ideas for campers and their families, and more ways to get involved in the arts!

Light Painting

Camp Leo got to play with one of the coolest types of photography, light painting. If you've used a film camera before your probably familiar with words like aperture, and shutter speed. Bu these concepts get a little tricky with the new-fangled digital camera. If you find the shutter option on your camera and change it manually, you too can experience these awesome works!

The way these photos are created is by extending the exposure, or shutter speed, to a longer time. If you have a digital camera you may be familiar with a small screen or number that says something like, 1/60 or 1/80. These are shutter speeds, showing the fractions of time that light is allowed. If you change the setting to 8" or 10" seconds the picture will extend, allowing light to be picked up in a trail. (There are several other settings that should be changed, for more information please contact the Camp Leo Art Coordinator!)
