Today Camp Leo had a project that was one part science, one part textiling. Using some extreme laundering we took dark fabrics, purples and blacks, of simple cotton and used a variety of whitening techniques to change the color.
From bleach pens to water baths the fabric was able become a mixture of the dyes that make up these various textiles. Each camper came back from the process with one of a kind headband, bracelet, or hair ribbon!

This is a surprisingly easy and fun activity for kids. If you're looking for a way to occupy your child's time on long summer weekends check it out!
